Complete casting has been announced for the upcoming world premiere of The Madrid, starring Emmy winner and Tony nominee Edie Falco. Brooke Ashley Laine (Little Girl) and Seth Clayton (Dylan) will join previously announced stars Frances Sternhagen, Phoebe Strole, John Ellison Conlee, Christopher Evan Welch and Heidi Schreck. Directed by Leigh Silverman, the limited engagement will begin performances February 5 at New York City Center Stage I, with an opening night set for February 26.
In this new drama by Liz Flahive, Falco stars as Martha, a kindergarten teacher with a life many would desire, complete with a loving husband (Conlee) and devoted daughter, Sarah (Strole). When Martha decides to leave it all behind, it’s up to her daughter to pick up the pieces. The Madrid is a story about motherhood, freedom and trying to see the people in your family as they really are.
The creative team for The Madrid includes scenic designer David Zinn, costume designer Emily Rebholtz, lighting designer Jeff Croiter and sound designer Jill BC Du Boff. The production will feature original music by Tom Kitt.
